Historic Richmond is a great day trip option or somewhere to go on the way to the Airport.
Belinda and I quite often either go to Richmond to enjoy the surrounding parks and bridge, we take a packed lunch (order from Jam Packed here) sometimes, or we have a Pub lunch there, which is great value.
If we want to make a full day of it we will have breakfast at Jam Packed (Book) then drive to Richmond where you can do the miniature Hobart town attraction. Think small scale Cockington Green (Canberra). It is a replica of how Hobart was in the early years. Well worth the walk around.
Also, the old Jail is well worth the walk and visit.
There are quite a few shops to see on the many strip, including a few antique stores, gift shop, lollie shop, ice-creamery, bakeries, and accommodation
If you are looking for a fine dining lunch option on the way back having lunch at Frogmore creek restaurant is a must-do experience. The food and location is exquisite. bookings essential.
